Description | Emphasis Options: General Marriage & Family Social Work Purpose: The Counseling concentration is designed to prepare graduating students for support ministries of the local church or para-church organization, either in a staff or lay capacity. Graduates of this concentration will be prepared to serve as biblical counselors in Christian ministries or to pursue further study in the field of counseling. Objectives: In addition to the educational objectives of the college, the student graduating from the Counseling Concentration will be able to: Demonstrate an understanding of the complexity of human behavior from a biblical viewpoint. Demonstrate a knowledge of the various systems of counseling, both Christian and secular. Articulate a sound philosophy of biblical counseling as a support ministry. Demonstrate the ability to counsel people effectively using the Word of God. Effectively use the tools, methods and techniques of biblical counseling associated with programs of the local church, para-church ministry, or mission field. |
